Hi folks, we have received feedback about the pricing for our docs.coop instance hosting.
We have decided to drop the price to 30 GBP per month for a small Docs instance.
This comes with an Single Sign On oauth server (such as Keycloak or Authentik).
We think this represents excellent value and will hopefully be enough to support us making this exciting open source Google docs competitor available for the people.
We can offer additional paid support on top of this to integrate further into your existing infrastructure.
Unlock collaborative document editing without the oligarchs.
pls
There’s a thing called the politician’s fallacy that explains a lot about congressional dysfunction. Here’s why this is especially tricky when it comes to tech + free speech:
5pm-7pm Thursday (tomorrow) I'll host an unofficial #UNOpenSourceWeek get-together in Manhattan
There's a public plaza with seating at 222 East 39th St., between Second and Third Avenues

next to a giant orange road safety mural
I'll bring some drinks and snacks and I'll be wearing an orange hat.
I'm tagging along with some friends who are attending the UN Open Source Week.

We're thrilled to announce our new project:

Building on the great work of Suite Numerique (https://docs.numerique.gouv.fr/home/), we are offering an opportunity to be part of a new collaborative Docs platform as a service, that provides an ethical alternative to Google Docs, Office 365, Notion etc.
Docs is the result of a joint effort lead by the French 🥖 (DINUM) and German 🥨 (ZenDiS) governments which represents a paradigm shift in the way open source software is funded.
🧢 🇺🇳 @bzg from @numerique_gouv introduces the #UN #OpenSource Week community to the @bluehats initiative for public servants who advocate for #FreeSoftware.

If you dislike the state of Firefox, please recognize that part of the way it got there was by becoming dependent on the gravy train from Google.
It will still be years before it’s usable, but one thing you could consider is to help fund https://servo.org — it’s a fully independent rendering engine with some really great next-generation tech that is going to make the web a more secure, and a very large % of its contributor base comes from a worker cooperative’s members who happen to be some of the finest minds in browser technology.
The project is flourishing, and you can help it continue to chug along and even accelerate. There’s no telling if it’ll definitely become a full alternative to the current triad of chrome/safari/firefox, but we won’t find out if we don’t try. The future is what we make it.
Firefox changed its ToS recently, and it’s really bad. It’s disappointing to see Linux distros still setting Firefox as the default browser when security and privacy should be top priorities.
